Our Normal was responsible for involving families with children with different abilities. We ensured that their voices and needs were an integral part of the research \u2013 from start to finish.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"advanced-block\">\n\t<div class=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"section-grid has-heading-items\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"section-grid__logo col-1 has-logo\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ournormal.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/case_logo.svg\" class=\"attachment-full size-full\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"advanced-block__title section-grid__title\">Approach<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"advanced-block__heading section-grid__heading col-2\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"section-grid__heading__preamble richtext\"><h3>Together, we carried out a two-phase design process:<\/h3>\n<p><em>Phase 1 \u2013 Inclusive insight work <\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Project planning with a clear inclusion strategy<\/li>\n<li>Recruitment of families with diverse needs<\/li>\n<li>Interviews, empathy mapping, and co-creation ideation workshops<\/li>\n<li>Final report and presentation of results at an internal conference<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Phase 2 \u2013 Product testing in real homes <\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Testing of smart home products with families from our network<\/li>\n<li>Feedback directly from children and parents<\/li>\n<li>Design improvements based on real-life use<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We followed the principles and process of universal design and ensured high accessibility throughout all activities.
